Goalie Drill – Shuffle random shot – Hockey Resource

EmailFacebookRedditTwitterShare

This drill is used to practise goaltender reaction time, shuffling and proper positioning.

Spread multiple pucks in a line near the top of the circles. A shooter starts at one end of the line and skates across. The goaltender follows him by shuffling and maintaining proper position (covering his angles). The shooter may decide to shoot any of the pucks at any moment. The goaltender must react and stop the puck, quickly get up and keep following the player.

Note: The objective is to catch the goaltender off guard (or off position). Do not shoot all the pucks, as the drill becomes predictable with fewer pucks.
