Goalie Drill – Shuffle Shot Breakaway – Hockey Resource

EmailFacebookRedditTwitterShare

In this drill, the goalie practises the basics, stopping shots, shuffling, t-pushes and facing breakaways.

The goalie starts at one of his posts and t-pushes out to face a shot from the first shooter. He then follows the shooter that skates across the slot (X3) by shuffling. When the goaltender gets to the second shooter he faces another shot. Immediately after stopping this shot, X4 will leave the blue line on a breakaway which the goaltender must stop.

Note: X4 should move towards one side of the net before shooting.

Variations:

  • X3 can have a puck while moving across the slot and shoot on net if the goaltender is not in proper position.
