Goalie Drill – One timer and butterfly slide – Hockey Resource

EmailFacebookRedditTwitterShare

This drill is designed to practise one-timers and butterfly slides. This simulates a one-timer followed by a rebound in a game situation.

The goalie starts on one of his posts. The player in the corner then passes to X1 which takes a one-timer (high shot). The goaltender must push out from the post to make the save. Meanwhile, the player on the opposite side moves forward and takes a low shot (after the goaltender has made the first save). The goaltender must make a butterfly slide to get to the correct position and make the save.

Variations:

  • Instead of taking the second shot, the player can pass it to X1 for another one-timer. The goaltender will have to hybrid slide to the top of his crease in order to make the save.
