Goalie Drill – Hybrid Slide & Stopping puck behind net – Hockey Resource

This drill is designed for goaltenders to practice their hybrid slide as well as stopping the puck behind the net.

The goalie starts from one post and pushes across to stop the puck shot by X1. He then hybrid slides to stop the shots of Xand X3. X4 will then shoot a puck around the boards that the goaltender must stop. The drill is then run in reverse.

Variations:

  • Have the goalie hybrid slide from X1 to X3 and then to X2 before going to stop the puck behind the net. This changes the direction and distance of the slides increasing difficulty.
  • Have the goalie shoot the puck that was stopped behind the net and immediately skate for a desperate save (diving or butterfly slide) from X2.
